ABOUT
HENRI NOUWEN HOUSE
BRIDGETOWN, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Henri’s
is a highly regarded community outreach facility. Originally,
as the South West branch of Holyoake, programs were offered
to assist with drug and alcohol dependencies as well as
educating and supporting their families. Since its inception
the house has expanded its programs and now promotes itself
as a unique not-for-profit volunteer community service
organization, offering caring support to people whose
lives have been affected by alcohol or drug dependency,
relationship breakdown, domestic violence, sexual abuse,
depression or bereavement. Henri Nouwen House is often
the first and only outreach point for those in despair
in Bridgetown and surrounding towns.
Located
in a comfortable Hester Street cottage in Bridgetown,
Henri Nouwen House offers care and support to people in
crisis in a warm, welcoming, serene and private environment.
Cosy restful spaces have been created to allow clients
and visitors to feel immediately at ease. This unique
facility is staffed by people who have survived and recovered
from their own difficult life situations and wish to support
others in their journey to recovery through the Program.
Utmost
care is taken by staff and clients to show respect for
other's opinions and to maintain confidentiality.
The
not-for-profit organization is funded independently through
fundraising and some assistance from local shires. The
management committee comprising local people drawn from
the communities of Bridgetown, Nannup, Boyup Brook and
Manjimup oversees the facility in liaison with the Coordinator.
The Coordinator and the volunteer facilitators trained
at Henri Nouwen house facilitate group sessions and offer
one to one interviews where required.

GET
INVOLVED
Henri
Nouwen House is essentially a not-for-profit self-help
organization, with the only paid staff member being an
administrator on a part-time basis. Any assistance you
can offer as a volunteer or friend would be greatly appreciated.
The organization encourages community members to understand
and appreciate difficulties that people encounter throughout
life, and the importance of support in times of need.
We aim to facilitate that support if appropriate. If you
think you can contribute, please contact the Coordinator.
