FUNDRAISING

In 2006 the management committee bravely launched its first book, a recipe book featuring wonderful black and white photographs of significant historical sites, typically rustic Blackwood Valley scenes and memorabilia, alongside tried and true sweets recipes from local cooks. The towns of Bridgetown, Balingup, Greenbushes and Nannup were the four towns featured. We were justifiably proud of this fabulous creation but couldn’t have guessed how wonderfully locals and visitors alike would respond. Such was the demand, we had to go to print a second time and sold out. After the launch of Henri Nouwen House's second successful recipe book “More Towns: Four Seasons” in 2010, enquires have been ongoing regarding their immensely popular, sold-out 2006 Recipe Book “Four Towns: Sweet Memories” so a limited short run of 500 copies of the original recipe book is now available at a cost of $20.00 through many outlets in the four towns, or can be purchased combined with the 2010 book for $40.00.

With the sell-out of the original book the pressure was on for the creators of ‘Four Towns, Sweet Memories’ to come up with another similar book, ‘More Towns, More Memories’. This 188 page offering has alternate pages 20cm x 20cm of colour plates with excellent local photographs and local family favourite recipes from the Blackwood Valley, this time including Boyup Brook. The recipes reflect the produce of the valley, events, gardens and the heritage of the region.

The books are a wondeful memento of the region and make excellent gifts. We hope you will enjoy savouring the culinary wonders and the wonderful photography!

The books are available through many shops in the five towns or can be purchased by phoning Sue Ewing or Margaret Miskimmin at Henri Nouwen House on 9761-2027, Tuesdays and Thursdays, emailing henrinouwenhouse@bigpond.com, or phoning Sue Wallace in Boyup on 9765-3113.
