Henri
Nouwen House was first established in 1992
in Bridgetown, Western Australia as the
South West branch of Holyoake, offering
support and education to families affected
by alcohol or drug dependency.
Today 'Henri's' operates independently to
provide a number of support programs and
services to individuals and families experiencing
crises of all kinds: alcoholism, drug dependency,
relationship breakdown, domestic violence,
physical or sexual abuse, or loss of a loved
one. Henri's is a community based not-for-profit
organisation that is mainly staffed by volunteers
and funded independently, with some assistance
from local shires.
Henri's
has been going through a period of transition
since late 2010 and has new staffing arrangements.
Some of the people you might meet if you
pay a visit to Henri's are Sue Ewing (Coordinator),
Magaret Miskimmin (administrator), Lyn Baldwin
(Youth Program) and Lyn Cannon (5th step
counsellor).
In
2006 the management committee bravely launched
its first recipe book to raise funds. The
sales of this book were so successful that
in September 2010 a second book was released.
